The Bloomfield

The Mansion Suite - The Bloomfield Hotel, South Yarra.

The Bloomfield restaurant - brilliant eclectic decor, vintage furniture, black and white stripes and retro styling...

I quite often get emails from people asking about accommodation in Melbourne... I must say I never know quite what to recommend - mainly because all the gorgeous boutique hotels, are, of course, insanely expensive. Or at least that's what I thought.

Enter The Bloomfield - a gem of a hotel in leafy South Yarra, with such fabulously eclectic decor, you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd stepped into some kooky little Notting Hill guesthouse straight from the storyboard of a Working Title film, circa 1999. Except that rates start at just $99 a night - not a price you'd find in London I expect (even in the late 90's).

I LOVE the fact that each room has different decor - a brilliant mix of new and vintage... and although it's perfectly put together, it feels real and unfussy. And how about the restaurant - with it's deep retro banquettes and Rolling Stones posters..! Just like a little slice of the East Village right here in sweet, sparkly Melbourne. :)

But if you still need convincing - The Bloomfield just installed a rooftop pool! Check out the most delicious photos below which I have snaffled (with permission of course!) from a friend of a friend who recently had a birthday party there! O.M.G! You can't really go wrong with oversized scarlet cushions and pink candy stripes can you?

Thankyou x 1000 to Jessie for her FAB photos below... and do pop over to visit her lovely little blog and say hello! Man, I gotta get me an invite to her next birthday party!
