Upcoming Melbourne Art/Design Events

Sorry I have been a bit slack in keeping up to date with all Melbourne's upcoming artsy events. Here are some good ones to remember :

Art Melbourne - April 16th - 19th (ie this weekend!)

Shot from the Melbourne Art Fair back in 2006

I can't keep up with all the name-changing. The Affordable Art Fair / Melbourne Art Fair / Art Melbourne / and now the Weekend Australian Art Melbourne. Jeepers. Anyway, we all know what it's about. It's about lots of contemporary Australian art in one place which may or may not be affordable but provides a great afternoon of browsing and mingling! Sorry I don't have a current photo... the one above is actually from 2006! (But those fabulous giant bunnies never lose their appeal!).

I'm going to the opening thingo tomorrow night so if I get a sec I'll post a little review before the weekend.

AGIdeas International Design Forum - May 5th - 7th (but book now!)

AGIdeas promo images - bottom left image is apparently Ben Frost - *thanks to the anonymous commenter for this correct!, and bottom right - everyone's favourite international graphic design superstar Stefan Sagmeister.

Imogen from Nest Architects just reminded me about AGIdeas... which I had forgotten to plug because alas I cannot go. (who manages to get 3 full days off work for these things? Seriously.)

Anyway, it's not until May 5th-7th BUT if you book your tix online by end of TOMORROW (April 17th) they are slightly discounted. But still somewhat expensive.

If you have the time/cash it will be seriously amazing. I really wish I could go. Why can you not buy a ticket for just one day...? Agghhh. Stefan Sagmeister will be there. Aggghhhhhhh. Check out the rest of the line-up here.

  1. YES why isn't it held over a weekend? I can't afford that much time off, no matter how good for inspiration it is. :(

  2. That is Ben Frost, not Marc Pascal in the bottom left image

  3. Hi Lucy,
unless Imogen from Nest also left you a comment about AGIdeas, it was Imogen from harvest magazine :)

  4. The Weekend Australian Art Melbourne is unrelated to the Melbourne Art Fair and the two events serve separate purposes. This article from The Age explains further.

  5. I agree, not all work places support or encourage time off work to attend such events.
