Tango is an Australian comic anthology put out by Cardigan Comics in Carlton 'almost annually since 1997'.... and I feel very lucky to have recently received a complimentary copy of the current issue, 'Love and Food' (yay!).
Love and food are two of my favourite things, and what's more, I have such a soft-spot for food illustration! (remember Maira Kalman? and Marcela Restrepo's gorgeous food illustrations for Nylon mag?). So needless to say I am probably a little biased... anyway, details aside, I really loved flicking through this fantastic and very extensive collection of work by local comic artists! 70 artists from Australia and New Zealand are represented, and it's a really varied, entertaining and easy read. I thoroughly recommend grabbing a copy and supporting this local creative venture!

Hot Plates by Toby Morris - the life-cycle of a relationship spelled out meal by meal!ps) Should also say that Tango Eight was launched recently at Mr Wilkinson, my partner's bar in Brunswick... They absolutely filled the venue and according to all reports it was a fantastic night (photos here)!
