Another gorgeous Sydney lovenest today... but this time it comes with a little twist! If Dana Hughes' beautiful dining room above looks more than a little familiar... perhaps that's because you've been seeing quite a lot of that bay window recently! In a particularly crazy 'blog meets real-life' coincidence, Dana's beautiful pad was the home of super-stylist Megan Morton in a previous life... and the image you see on the front of MM's fab new book Homelove, is in fact now the dining room of one miss Dana Hughes! OMG! Brilliant!
Coincidences aside, I'm sure you'll agree that the light-filled apartment Dana shares with her hubby is utterly gorgeous and of course entirely blog-worthy in it's own right... It has such great bones - those huge bay windows, timbers floors and beautiful detail on the architraves and ceilings etc. I love Dana's eclectic mix of designer pieces, vintage finds, and of course the odd Ikea staple thrown into the mix is such a winning combination! It's not surprising to learn that Dana is an interior designer by day - and she also writes the brilliant Yellowtrace blog by night - truly one of my absolute favourites recently!
HUGE thanks to Dana for sharing her delectable pad with us here! Be sure to pop over and visit her on Yellowtrace... she has impeccable taste and you will be instantly smitten I promise :) Dana also tweets over here if you are so inclined... (who isn't?).
Oh man that vintage bike and rug combination is a match made in styling heaven. Black + white + yellow never looked so good.
Cute bedroom, love the mix 'n match bedlinen, awesome bed (what is that bed Dana!?) and how about the fabulous gold/white/black shoes too?!
Completely gorgeous. Dana has a wonderful way of making everything work together, it all just flows. Love it! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThat window sill is too beautiful and should not be allowed : P
ReplyDeleteWow - beautiful
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful home Dana! LOVE it all but especially the yellow trace detail ; ) xx
ReplyDeleteThat bed is a Blu Dot one - i'd love to know if she was able to get it over here!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful, wonderful house. There is nothing not to love but I am in awe of the installation above the desk...stunning.
ReplyDeleteAh man... I'm blushing. Thank you gorgeous Lucy! And thank you so much everyone else for your lovely comments.
ReplyDelete@Ally - well spotted. The bed is by Blu Dot called "Nook". I got it through Interstudio who have just started bringing them in

@cieart - the rug in the living room is from IKEA, but don't think they sell them any more.

Ah - the day my two favourite design blogs collide!
ReplyDeleteI check both The Design Files and Yellowtrace religiously each day - and love them both! It was nice to see where Dana lives, as it shows a lot of personality as a designer, and after reading her blog each day - made a lot of sense
Thank you ladies for your endless inspiration [or hours of potential procrastination - not so conducive to being a productive architecture student!]
I recently stumbled onto Yellowtrace, and have been enjoying it immensely. Thanks for sharing Dana's lovely home, Lucy.
ReplyDeletePS I discovered Home Love at Readings tonight and spent the next half hour having "if only my house looked..." dreams. It is one damn inspiring book!
I like Megan's chairs better.
ReplyDeleteI lust after some old Tolix' soooo badly.
