Kat Macleod's new show, 'Slight Inclusions' opens this Thursday at Lamington Drive! For the first time Kat has created large scale-silk screen prints of her work, in addition to smaller scale original drawings.
'Plates' - a drawing originally created for Vogue E & T.... I love the imperfect details and layers of paper...
It's no secret I am a fully fledged member of the Kat Macleod fan club. Of course by now every self-respecting Melburnian must know Kat's stunning illustrations.... those wistful 'three fingered ladies' dressed in carefully selected scraps of silk, and finished off with sparkly details, vibrant puddles of bright watercolour and delicate handstitching.
But it isn't just her beautiful work that makes Kat one of Melbourne's best known and most popular creative ladies... it's also the fact that in person she is the most lovely, friendly and genuinely modest girl you could ever meet. Truly!
In fact, Kat is so completely unaware of her superstar status, that she's convinced no one will turn up to her new show, Slight Inclusions, which opens this Thursday at Lamington Drive! I've tried to remind the delicate petal that her last show sold out in 3 days. But it's no good. She is too jittery for words.
So it seems there's nothing left to do but to prove Ms Macleod wrong! Come along and share the Kat Mac love this Thursday evening at the exhibition opening - or for a less squishy shoulder-to-shoulder experience, you can visit any other time before Nov 15. I am most excited to see a collection of Kat's 'imperfect' original drawings, which you may recognise from editorial publications over the last few years.... and also, for the first time Kat has created large-scale silk screen prints of her work! I can't wait to see them!
